goDCgo, Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Fobus and the District Department of Transportation’s goDCgo held a public transit travel training program on October 25 at the Chevy Chase Neighborhood Library. Nearly two dozen people attended the program. It included a presentation by goDCgo and a Saturday afternoon excursion on the C83 Metrobus from the Chevy Chase Community Center to the Friendship Heights Metro Station. For the first time in many years, bus riders in Chevy Chase have access to weekend service (Saturday and Sunday) and extended evening service from Barnaby Woods, Hawthorne, and Knollwood to Friendship Heights. The last C83 departs the Friendship Heights station at 11:00 p.m.
FoBus/goDCgo travel training highlighted the new Metrobus routes now operating in Chevy Chase DC, including the C81 Military Road, C83 Barnaby Woods-Friendship Heights, C85 Nebraska Avenue-Foggy Bottom, and D70 Connecticut Avenue-Chevy Chase. If you are unfamiliar with these or other routes, you can find more information about Metrobus service at wmata.com/betterbus.
At the meeting, other public transportation options in DC were discussed, such as Metrorail, Capital Bikeshare, dockless bikes (Lime and Veo), electric scooters (Lime and Hopp), and carshare programs (Zipcar, Free2Move, and Turo).
goDCgo also offered an overview of WMATA’s trip planning apps that make public transit easier to use, including WMATA Trip Planner, BusETA, and MetroPulse. Also discussed were transportation discount programs, including the senior SmarTrip Card, which offers seniors (65+) with a 50% reduced rate on Metrorail and Metrobus fares and WMATA’s guaranteed ride home program.
